Q&A with Steve Trotter, Rodeo Hills Elementary Principal

1. How many kids does RH serve?

Rodeo Hills currently serves 730 students in a program that includes special day preschool through 5th grade.

2. What are some of the “extras,” i.e. art, music, etc., that RH offers?

Rodeo Hills offers several extras. We currently have a no-fee After School program that serves nearly 230 students from 2:45-6:00 p.m. The program includes a music component for 4th and 5th grade students with a dedicated, qualified music instructor. The program includes homework time and a variety of enrichment activities. During the day, teachers have access to a kiln and several classes use the kiln to produce different art projects.

3. What are some unique, special qualities of RH are you especially proud of?

Rodeo Hills is truly a centerpiece for the town of Rodeo. With over 700 students we serve a population that is diverse in socio-economic status, ethnicity, language, and academic need. Our staff is veteran and proud and protective of its school. Despite the economic changes faced by our State, District, and our school we have strived to maintain quality education and to even grow our programs.
